No need as the Joomla update component will automatically show the correct version to update to. Although neither you nor myself mentioned to select the 'Next' update channel in the Update components Options. (well I have mentioned it now).
If the OP has problems they can always post back. But they haven't logged back in since 3 hours before I posted my first reply. Never mind it is there for others to see (as of now the thread has had 266 views).
As I mentioned before there is no 'one size fits all.

No matter what we post we cannot cover every eventuality, no matter how many holes you find in other peoples posts.
